American Bandstand originated in 1957 as a five-day-a-week afternoon television show. It featured teenagers dancing to Top 40 records introduced by Dick Clark. Students would dance on the show which all their teachers watched. This program set in Philadelphia between 1957-1964 features original live Bandstand performances of "Rock Around the Clock" with Bill Haley and the Comets, "Mack the Knife" by Bobby Darin, "Tears on My Pillow" by Little Anthony, "Charlie Brown" by the Coasters, "Great Balls of Fire "by Jerry Lee Lewis, "Rock ‘n Roll is Here to Stay" by Danny and the Juniors and more.
