Notary Service

Please review the following information:

We are not attorneys licensed to practice law and may not give legal advice about immigration or any other legal matter or accept fees for legal advice.

Our notaries are librarians who provide their notary services free of charge by appointment ONLY during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm).

• We notarize most forms, but our notary service is not available for copy certification of any kind (e.g. birth and marriage certificates), passports (including parental consent forms), I-9 Forms, real estate, loan documents, and certain other documents.
• All documents must be examined by the notaries and notaries cannot guarantee service.
• Notary service is limited to five documents per person, per visit. If you require more than five documents, you may be ask to make another appointment. 
• The Library will not provide witnesses, and witnesses may not be solicited from patrons using the Library.
• Per New Jersey Law,  (N.J. P.L. 2021 Chapter 179-8(PDF, 112KB)), and the New Jersey Notary Manual, (Notary Public Manual Chapter 6(PDF, 63KB)), all documents requesting notarization MUST contain the appropriate notarial language, (Example(PDF, 6KB)). If your document does not contain this language, a Certificate of Notarization must be filled out and attached to your document. 
• The Library reserves the right to decline service for any reason.
