The Music of French Harpist Marcel Grandjany

On Tuesday, May 16th at 7:00PM join us at the Morris County Library for a concert, and commentary, on the life of renowned composer and harpist Marcel Grandjany, performed by harpist Merynda Adams. 

Marcel Grandjany was a French-American harpist and composer. Born in Paris, Grandjany began studying the harp at eight years old and by age thirteen he won the coveted Premier Prix. Throughout his musical career he performed in Paris, London and New York. He was head of the harp department at Fontainebleau Summer School before moving to the United States, where he was appointed head of the Harp Department at the Juilliard School. He helped found and was the Chairman for the American Harp Society in 1962, where he later became the Chapter Chairman as well as the President of the New York chapter. 

Merynda Adams is a soloist and chamber musician, performing throughout the United States, Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. Adams is a 1994 winner of the Artists International Competition and the Goldblatt Award. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Harp Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, has studied at the Hilversums Conservatorium in the Netherlands and performed in masterclasses in Paris and Nice, France. She has performed with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, New York Grand Opera, New Philharmonic and more!
