On April 8th we will be celebrating Jazz Appreciation Month at the library. We have two wonderful programs planned:

The first program is a Kid's Introduction to the Harmonica. From 5:00pm to 5:30pm, kids ages 7-18 are invited to come and learn the basics of playing the harmonica with professional musician, Yvonnick Prene. No prior musical experience is required, just come ready to have fun! Harmonicas will be provided by Yvonnick and you will even get to keep them! Registration is required for this program and can be done on our Eventbrite pageParents/guardians must remain with children age 7-12 during the program.

Later that evening from 7:00pm to 8:00pm the Yvonnick Prene Duo will perform a selection of jazz compositions, including selections from their recording, "Jobim's World." The Duo consists of Yvonnick Prene on harmonica and Toru Dodo on piano.

Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim (1927 – 1994), also known as Tom Jobim, was a Brazilian composer, pianist, guitarist, songwriter, arranger, and singer. Considered as one of the great exponents of Brazilian music, Jobim merged samba with cool jazz in the 1960s to create bossa nova, with worldwide success. As a result, he is regarded as one of the fathers of bossa nova.

No registration is required for the concert; however, seating is first-come, first-seated.
