Best known for their passionate interpretations of the romantic repertoire, the Alighieri Duo is a New York City-based duo comprised of Candace Chien on piano and Nicholas Pappone on violin. Since forming in 2012, the Alighieri Duo has been featured as Triumph Music Festival’s guest artists at the Kimmel Center Academy of Music Ballroom and the Strad for Lunch series in New York. The Duo keeps up a performance schedule, in person and virtually, and have performed at The Juilliard School, Rutgers University, the New Hampshire Music Festival and more!

On Saturday, May 13th the duo will perform selections under the theme, "In the Spotlight - From Stage to Screen." Their performance begins with the passionate Brahms 2nd Violin Sonata and Brahms Scherzo.  In reference to violinist Nicholas's former acting career, the second half are all charming “morceau de genre” that have been used in movie scores over the years.  They take you on a journey from New York, to Paris, to Italy with pieces by Leonard Bernstein, John Williams, Camille Saint-Seans, and Ennio Morricone among others!

Program will begin at 3:00PM and runs for approximately one hour. Space is limited, and no registration is required. Program will be first come, first served. For questions or concerns please contact the library at (973) 285-6930.
