This month's pick: Troilus and Cressida by Geoffrey Chaucer.
Troilus and Criseyde is a tragic love story set against the backdrop of the Trojan War. Troilus, a Trojan prince, falls deeply in love with Criseyde, a beautiful woman whose father, a Trojan priest, has defected to the Greek side. With the help of Pandarus, Criseyde's uncle, the lovers finally unite. However, their happiness is short-lived. Criseyde is exchanged to the Greek camp as part of a prisoner swap. Despite promises to return, she eventually falls for a Greek warrior. Devastated by betrayal, Troilus dies in battle. The poem explores themes of love, betrayal, and the complexities of human nature.
