Diana’s life is completely on track as she prepares to take on a promotion and get engaged; then, Covid-19 hits New York City. Leaving behind her surgical resident boyfriend, Diana departs alone for their non-refundable trip to the Galapagos. Little does she know that she will be quarantined on the island with no Wifi and without her luggage. Will Diana learn to adapt to her new circumstances or will she hold on desperately to control?

This book surprised me in many ways; I was not prepared for the twists and turns. I was hesitant at first to read pandemic fiction considering we all lived through 2020 and are still in the midst of a very not fictional pandemic. However, this book provided a personal account of how a life-changing event, like the world shutting down due to a pandemic, can alter the course of a person’s life in both positive and negative ways.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Favorite Excerpt: “Busy is just a euphemism for being so focused on what you don’t have that you never notice what you do. It’s a defense mechanism. Because if you stop hustling – if you pause – you start wondering why you ever thought you wanted all those things”.
