Below each database, you'll see links to "Library Use" and "Home Access:" 

  • Library Use (Access to databases within the library):
    If the link states that a reference librarian must log patrons into the database, you must be in the reference department on the second floor. Otherwise, you may be at any computer within the library.
  • Home Access (Access to databases from a remote location):
    Some databases are only available in the library. Those databases will not have a link for home access. Access to databases that have remote access will require an ID number. Enter the 13 digit number on the back of your library card from a MAIN library.

Since its launch in 1999, FamilySearch has added billions of historical records from around the world.  The Morris County Library is a library affiliate and digitized microfilm records can be viewed when using the database at the library.  Please note that this is not a paid library database and the library does not provide accounts.  Beginning December 13, 2017 all users must register for their own free FamilySearch account at familysearch.org.

Gale Literary Index
