Children's Summer Programs

Summer programs are back at the Morris County Library and there is so much to look forward to! 

Our Summer Kick-Off Party will be held on Thursday, June 22nd from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Stop by to have your face painted or visit the Swift Farms Petting Zoo or join us at a Little Rocker's Children's Concert. Programs will be held throughout the day for families to enjoy. 

On June 22nd, registration also begins for the " All Together Now" Summer Reading Club. The Summer Reading Club is open to children from birth to age 12. Read and check-in each week for a chance to win a grand prize gift card at the end of the summer! Children will be able to report their reading numbers from July 3rd to August 12th. Grand prize winners will be notified the week of August 14th. 

The Community Helpers Outdoor Scavenger Hunt also begins on June 22nd for children and their families. Pick up a scavenger hunt checklist at the children's service desk and take a walk around the outside of the library to find the community helpers! Once you find all the helpers bring your checklist back to the desk to receive a prize and a raffle ticket for the grand prize drawing. Parents and caregivers must remain with their children at all times during the scavenger hunt. The Scavenger Hunt will be available from June 22nd to September 2nd. 

Pre-School Storytime and Music with Mr. Laurence is also back at the library! Storytimes will be held on Tuesdays at 10:00 AM on the following dates: June 27th, July 11th, July 18th, August 1st, August 8th and August 15th. Sessions include stories, fingerplays and music! Storytime sessions are recommended for children ages 2 to 5. 

Grab and Go STEAM crafts will also be available this summer! Crafts will be available on Saturday, July 15th and Saturday, August 5th. Stop in between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM to pickup a project. Limited to one project per family. STEAM kits are recommended for children ages 5 to 12. 

 On Thursday, June 29th at 3:00 PM join magician Brian Richards for a magic and comedy show titled "Bgreat Show - Buidling Character"Join magician Brian Richards for magic, comedy and storytelling with puppets. This program is open to children of all ages. 

The Traveling Lantern Theatre Company will be presenting "Rhonda Appleseed and the Tree that Learned to Speak" on Thursday, July 6th at 3:00 PM. This interactive children's theatre program is recommended for children ages 5 to 12. 

Stop in on Thursday, July 20th at 3:00 PM for "Science Heroes Saving Earth Together" an interactive story with science experiments, presented by Talewise. This program is recommended for children ages 5 to 12. 

Professer Imnota Dimbletwit's Hogwarts Show will be at the library on Thursday, July 27th at 3:00 PM. Learn from Hogwarts Historian/Librarian and Keeper-of-Awesome-Knowledge in a Harry Potter style themed show of magnificent proportions! This program is an educational magic show is presented by Currier's Magical Mania and is recommended for children ages 3 to 12. 

A penguin from Jenkinson's Aquarium will be visiting the library on Thursday, August 3rd at 3:00 PM. Learn about penguin biology, care, feed and conservation! This program is recommended for children ages 5 to 12. 

But that's not all a miniature therapy horse will also be visiting the library! On Thursday, August 10th at 10:30 AM, stop in to listen to a story and visit with miniature therapy horse, Noble Promise from Hope's Promise Farm. This program is recommended for children ages 3 to 12. 

On Thursday, August 17th join us for our Summer Finale program and participate in a Pop-Art Workshop with Michael Albert. Stop in between 1:00 and 4:30 PM for a pop-art workshop with the artist. This program is recommended for children in grades K through 6. 

Please note that while registration is not required seating is limited at programs and will be available on a first come, first served basis. All programs have been sponsored by the Morris County Library foundation.
