Spring into fun at the Morris County Library by joining us at one of our many spring children’s programs!

To kick off our spring programs, stop by the library to celebrate Read Across America! Storybook characters are lost in the library and only you can find them! The Storybook Character Scavenger Hunt will be available throughout the month of March. Stop by the Children's Service Desk for a storybook character checklist and help our librarians find the missing characters. This program is recommended for children 12 and under. Please note a parent or caregiver must accompany children 12 and under at all times.

Our popular Preschool Story Time and Music with Mr. Laurence returns Tuesday, March 21st. Children ages 2 to 5 can join us for stories, fingerplays, and music. Story Time will be held each Tuesday from March 21st to April 25th, there will also be storytime sessions on May 16th and May 23rd. All sessions are from 10:00 AM to10:30 AM. On June 6th there will be a special Teddy Bear Storytime where children are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animal! This storytime session is recommended for ages 2 to 5 and runs from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM.

Grab and Go STEAM Projects will be continuing this spring!  Projects are recommended for ages 5 to 12, and each family can pick up one project to work on together. STEAM projects will be available for pickup on the following Saturdays: April 1st, May 13th and June 3rd. Pickup times for each Saturday will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Children’s room. STEAM Projects are limited and will be given out while supplies last.

Join a Dinosaur’s Rock expert on Thursday, April 6th from 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM for a fun and educational Jurassic journey. Children will be able to experience museum-quality life-size specimens as the backdrop to exploring the world of dinosaurs and fossils. This program is recommended for children ages 4 to 12.

During National Library Week, local Author Amy Pollack will be visiting the library! On Thursday, April 27th from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Amy Pollack will be presenting her new book series, “The Adventures of Jelly Bean”. This series is about a fourth-grader and the challenges she faces surrounding loss, friendship and family issues, as well as her experiences with learning to make her own choices. Amy Pollack will be reading part of the first book, "The Adventures of Jelly Bean" and will give children the chance to predict the ending, as well as write one of their own! This program is recommended for children in grades 3 to 6.

Our spring programs conclude with The Diversity of Black Joy, a Juneteenth program presented by Alliah Agostini on Thursday, June 8th from 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM. She is the author of The Juneteenth Story and Big Tune: The Rise of the Dancehall Prince and will be doing a short read-aloud as well as a Q&A session. This program is recommended for children ages 4 to 10.

Space is limited, and no registration is required for our children’s programs. All programs will be first come, first served. Contact the Children's Department at 973-285-6980 with any questions.
