Alastair and Peter Montague have begun to gain notice for their small-time do-gooder mystery solving. The twins have just made the paper for finding a lost dog when their adoptive father figure kicks them, and his own daughter Charlie, out of the house for a day of fun and relaxation. Because they are absolutely not to do any work they, naturally, stumble upon a brand-new mystery to solve. Except this one’s a little less wholesome and a lot more “scary witch creature terrorizing the town.” When a local girl goes missing and the twins are suspected of being involved, they have to solve the case and figure out what happened to the missing girl- and what the witch has to do with it.
The Witch’s Hand is an engrossing story that combines mystery and the supernatural. The art style is reminiscent of the old cartoons that were popular during the 60’s, which is when the story is set. Humor and sweet moments between the brothers and Charlie keep the story light and easy to read. The author does a good job at revealing just enough information at the right times to keep readers guessing while making the story easy to follow along with. Pick this up if you like your detective stories with a little something extra.
