This book is a collection of stories, each one a reimagined version of a Shakespeare play. Separated into sections such as Comedies, Tragedies, and Late Romance, this book covers 15 of Shakespeare’s famous stories. Although the characters may seem familiar the stories are altered to fit the modern day. Either trapped in a house with your ex, or a conversation held entirely over texts, a modern reader can easily understand the story that plays out.
I for one am not a fan of Shakespeare’s writing, but I love his stories. I struggle to read poetic verse but he is an amazing storyteller. This was a fun new way to modernize Shakespeare. Individuals who read this may find they understand the plot better, or they understand the meaning behind the play. You will see the connections to the original Shakespeare, and how a modern update can change it. If you are a fan of movies such as 10 Things I Hate About You (a reimagined version of Taming of the Shrew), you will enjoy this collection.
